Is your website address like this: http://www.YourSite.com, or this: https://www.YourSite.com?

If it’s the former, it’d be a good time to to think about making some changes. And soon…

Google is on the warpath against sites that don’t have security certificates (i.e. if your site is HTTP://site.com rather than HTTPS…)

On January 31st the new version of the Chrome web browser – which accounts for 51.06% of total browser usage – will be released.

The new browser will display the message below for some pages on sites that use the HTTP rather than HTTPS (secure) – potentially confusing or worrying your site visitors…

This is part of Google’s move to ensure all sites are secure (HTTPS sites that have an SSL (secure) certificate enabled.)

Here are 3 reasons why you need to make sure your site is up-to-date and HTTPS-enabled now:

1.    There will be no warning message displayed that will put people off visiting your site

2.    Google pointed out in 2014 that secure sites (with HTTPS/SSL certificates) will get a ranking boost compared to sites that don’t  (= better rankings in the Google search results) so if you want to get higher up the search results, it makes sense to add an SSL certificate

3.    You’re going to have to switch soon anyway!

At Dental Connections we offer a dedicated hosting service for our clients’ dental sites which includes SSL/security certificates and set-up at no extra cost. The price? Just £9.95/month.

Not only that, our hosting package offers some of the fastest page speeds in the world (Google announced that page speed was another ranking factor way back in 2010) so this will also boost your site in the search results.

We guarantee that your site will run faster on our hosting than it does now as measured by Google’s Page Speed Tool. (Click here to see how fast (or slow!) your site currently is)

And at £9.95/month with secure SSL + superfast download speeds, we think it’s a no-brainer.

Bottom line: your website is the home of your business online. It needs to be up-to-date and quick to load, otherwise you’ll lose valuable traffic and risk irritating your patients and prospects…
